## Where can Broward families ask about teen aligners?

The SMILE\-FX clear aligner page includes options for teens\. Families using this guide would visit the actual Miramar studio\. The shared agenda below makes room for a teen and a parent or guardian to ask about a proposed plan, provider\-directed responsibilities and how to communicate with the team\.

## A closer look at teen clear aligners\.

General explanations from primary orthodontic sources\. Your clinician explains how they apply to an individual proposal\.

### The teen plan includes everyday life

The AAO's family guide discusses school\-age schedules and activities as part of a teen orthodontic conversation\. Clear aligners are one category of appliance, but a family still needs the proposed responsibilities explained by the clinician\. The useful distinction is between choosing an appliance and understanding how the family would support the actual plan\.

### Give each person a clear part in the conversation

The AAO emphasizes accurate communication about questions and difficulties during treatment\. A practical family agenda can have three voices: the teen describes what they want understood, a parent handles coordination questions, and the clinician explains the proposal and instructions\. This is a conversation framework, not a readiness score or a prescribed wear routine\.

### How do fixed braces and removable aligners differ?

Fixed braces stay attached to teeth; clear aligners are removable trays\. That is an appliance\-category distinction, not a ranking of which is best for an active teen\. The individual proposal connects an appliance with the clinician's findings and goals\.

A family can discuss schedules and activities without turning them into an appliance\-selection rule\. First identify what is proposed\. Then clarify the actual directions and arrangements for that plan\. The table below keeps the category description separate from questions that require a personal answer\.

Two appliance categories, no universal winner

| Category | General arrangement | Individual question |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Fixed braces | Brackets and wire attached to teeth | What plan and directions are proposed? |
| Clear aligners | Custom removable trays | What prescribed routine and review arrangements apply? |

The comparison gives no sports clearance, readiness score or effectiveness ranking\.

### Can a website choose aligners for a 12\-, 13\- or 14\-year\-old?

A website cannot make that choice from age alone\. The question 'Could aligners be considered?' is different from a finding that a particular approach suits an individual teen\. The AAO describes treatment selection as dependent on individual needs, while its family discussion includes activities and schedules as context\.

Bring the family's question to the assessment, then ask the clinician to explain the findings, proposed approach and responsibilities\. Those are the missing pieces in an age\-only search\. This page deliberately does not convert ages into product indications or a home eligibility score\.

This is one assessment question across the age theme, not three age\-specific treatment rules\.

### A useful teen\-parent\-clinician conversation has separate voices

This original shared agenda keeps the teen's priorities visible beside the guardian's practical questions\. The clinician's actual directions belong in a different part of the record\. Mixing them together can make an unanswered preference look like an agreed instruction\.

The fictional example below assigns space for each voice without prescribing a family policy\. After a conversation, mark which answers were actually supplied and which questions remain open\. It is a way to organize communication, not a compliance test or a replacement for the team's consent and attendance arrangements\.

Original fictional family agenda

| Voice | Example agenda item | Status in this example |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Teen | I want to explain which parts of my school day concern me | A priority to discuss |
| Guardian | Who should attend and how will we confirm arrangements? | A logistics question |
| Clinician | Explain the individual proposal and actual directions | No answer invented here |
| Family together | Which question is still unanswered? | Keep it open until clarified |

The roles and example are editorial, not an AAO protocol or a verified SMILE\-FX family policy\.

### What should a family confirm about a teen treatment estimate?

Separate the proposed treatment from the services included in the written quote and from its payment arrangement\. Naming a teen appliance does not establish the total cost, insurance contribution or included retention services\. Ask the team to mark the actual scope rather than applying a price found for someone else\.

If Invisalign is the named proposal, use the clinic's specific service information for that offering\. For payment or insurance questions, obtain the current written terms from the team and any plan\-specific explanation from the insurer\. This guide gives no teen fee, coverage entitlement or financing decision\.

1. Identify the proposed system and clinical goal\.
2. Clarify included, separate and unconfirmed services in writing\.
3. Keep payment and insurance assumptions distinct from the clinical recommendation\.

These are document\-reading questions; no comprehensive\-treatment offer is applied to this page\.

## A family conversation, with clear roles\.

SMILE\-FX lists clear aligner options for teens\. This guide helps a family prepare questions about a proposed plan; it does not score readiness, prescribe a routine or decide suitability\.

01

### Let the teen lead a question

Invite the teen to choose a concern they want answered in their own words\. Ask the clinical team to explain the proposed plan in language everyone understands\.

02

### Clarify responsibilities

Ask the provider to explain any prescribed responsibilities and how the family should support them\. The guide supplies no wear hours, activity advice or compliance score\.

03

### Agree how to communicate

Ask who should contact the clinic, how questions should be raised and what a parent or guardian should confirm before each visit\. Appointment arrangements stay with the team\.

One agenda, two perspectives

## Your teen & parent question builder

Select the questions your family wants to cover\. You do not enter a teen's name, school, activity details or medical information\.

Whose questions belong on this agenda?

**Teen: school routine** Teen question: What should I ask you about managing the routine you prescribe during school?

**Teen: activities** Teen question: Which questions about my activities should I discuss with you before starting?

**Parent: provider\-directed responsibilities** Parent question: What responsibilities would you prescribe, and how should we support them?

**Parent: visit coordination** Parent question: Who needs to attend, and how should our family coordinate appointments?

**Parent: quote and permissions** Parent question: What does the written estimate include, and which consent or payment arrangements need discussion?

**Together: asking for help** Shared question: Who should contact the team if we are unsure about the instructions or next step?

No\. It does not score readiness, compliance or suitability\. Those questions belong in a clinical conversation with the teen and parent or guardian\.

### Can it tell us which activities are safe during treatment?

No\. It only reminds you to ask the clinician about activities relevant to the proposed plan\. It supplies no activity clearance or safety advice\.
